On 23rd March 2004, the second meeting of the CELEBRATE User Group (CUG) included major educational publishers, content developers, VLE vendors and senior representatives from Ministries of Education. The meeting highlighted how CELEBRATE:
  • has provided schools with access to a large online repository of standards’ compliant Learning Objects

  • has developed a technical architecture and ‘Brokerage System’ that allows users to locate and access Learning Objects from a variety of suppliers

  • enables teachers and pupils to create their own Learning Objects using simple authoring templates and a database of copyright cleared Learning Assets

  • has already influenced the national ICT content initiatives of European Ministries of Education

  • is developing new business models for the creation, adaptation, exchange and delivery of Learning Objects.

  • Information on how publishers and content developers can work with the project was distributed at the meeting (link to Working with CELEBRATE document) and other documents and presentations are also available (link).

  • Following the meeting, partnerships have been formed with several CUG members and Learning Objects from Intel, Young Digital Poland and Edumedia will be made available to CELEBRATE schools early in May 2004. Partnerships with several other CUG members are also currently being finalised.
